Smoke Bush (Cotinus coggygria)

Smoke Bush (Cotinus coggygria)

$90.00

In summer the smoke bush does the thing it is named for. Plume-like flower clusters rise over the leaves in a hazy cloud, smoke caught in the branches. Under it sit deep burgundy or green leaves that turn hard in fall. This is a focal point, not a filler.

Plant in full sun for the best color and the fullest smoke. It takes poor, dry soil without complaint, so do not overwater once it is established. Cut it back in late winter to hold its size or push lush new growth.

Full sun. Low water once established. Matures 10 to 15 feet. In a 5-gallon pot, ready to go in the ground.
